What types of dog waste bags do you offer?
We sell three main types of commercial dog waste bags: compostable, biobased, and recycled plastic. Within these three types, customers may choose how they want the bags to be dispensed: classic roll-style bags or header bags (which are flat and have an easy pull tab).
Are eco-friendly dog waste bags as sturdy as traditional plastic ones?
Our bags are extremely durable yet are designed so that they can easily separate (so you’re not struggling to get the bag open). Our Biobased and compostable bags have a thickness of .7 mil/18 microns, while our recycled material dog waste bag rolls have a thickness of 1.1 mil/28 microns.
Do you sell dispensers for the dog waste bags?
We offer two types of easy-to-assemble dispensing stations: The Foot Soldier or the Spartan. Both are designed to withstand the outdoor elements and can be used for our roll-style bags or our flat header bags. These stations are a convenient addition to dog parks, apartment complexes, retirement communities, hotels, and other pet-friendly businesses and public spaces.
What’s difference between compostable, bio-based, and recycled dog waste bags?
First, our recycled dog waste bags utilize scrap industrial waste to reduce the amount of virgin plastic being used in the manufacturing process, and are a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic dog poop bags. However, these types of bags cannot be composted.

Next, our biobased bags are made from renewable materials and are certified under the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) BioPreferred program to be 38% biobased. Products made from biobased materials typically consist of plant-based matter such as cornstarch or other fibers. Our biobased bags do contain some traditional petroleum-based plastic, so they’re not compostable. However, they’re a cost-effective, “hybrid” replacement for 100% virgin plastic bags.

Lastly, our compostable dog waste bags are made entirely from plant-based fibers, vegetable oils, and starch, and are certified under ASTM D6400 for commercial composting (in certain industrial facilities). It’s important to check what commercial facilities are available in your area to make sure that the dog waste bags can be properly disposed of.
Can I put the compostable bags in the backyard compost?
In addition to our industrial composting certification, our compostable bags are also certified under TUV Austria as “OK to Compost at Home.” This highly regarded, stringent testing means that the bags themselves can be composted in a typical backyard/home compost pile and will break down into organic matter in normal conditions.

However, because the bags are being used for animal waste, they should not be put into community garden compost piles, home compost, or any compost intended for edible plants. Dog waste can contain dangerous pathogens and should never be used in backyard or urban gardens. Instead, the compostable dog waste bags must be placed into a separate, dog waste-only composting bin for proper, safe disposal (or sent to an industrial composting facility).
If the biobased bags aren’t compostable, how are they eco-friendly?
Although the biobased bags aren’t certified compostable at the end of the product’s life cycle, there are environmental benefits of using these bags. During the creation of conventional plastic dog waste bags, a large amount of petroleum (crude oil) is extracted from the earth. The drilling for this oil combined with the carbon-intensive manufacturing of the plastic accounts for massive amounts of greenhouse gases that are released into the atmosphere. In contrast, the 38% biobased bags partially use renewable energy resources, and in turn, significantly reduce the carbon footprint during manufacturing.
